The first thing I can say is..

AHAB REX IS KING MIDAS

EVERYTHING HE TOUCHES TURNS TO GOLD

I am a huge fan and absolutely loved his first release ROLLIN' WITH THE AHAB REX QUINTET and was very excited when I was given the chance to review this release!

I WAS NOT DISAPOINTED!

With more energy than a coke fiend and more sensuality and sweat than someone trippin on X This album delivers everything I was wanting!

In my usual start let's go through the tracks!

ORDINARY THINGS starts off this puppy with a groovy little beat and those trademark raspy too much whiskey vox of Ahab. The poppy bassline drags you in and then we get smacked in the face by the guest vox of CHRIS CONNELY (of Ministry and others) and smooth sexy backing vox by BROOKE CASSELL This is different from what I was expecting from AHAB and I was so impressed... Things that don't seem to mix well blend perfectly like blood and motor oil..

I knew when I heard this that the entire album was going to be priceless.

Ahab seduces us into THE QUEEN OF SOFTCORE with his usual bass stylings and soulful voice.
Once again BROOKE helps out on backing vox and what a job she does.. this is one for the late night adventures in a hot bubble bath with someone you WANT, Candles glowing and the lights down real low... incense burning.

Unexpecting acoustics in THANK YOU MR RUSSIA (An Alcoholic Love Story) and even more unexpected ranting vox over a trippy soft industrial beat. This song sounds so much like something I would write I love the lyrics.. This is one of my favorites on the album.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN makes a return on this album (appearing earlier on Rollin') and trust me this version is so much cooler than the original. STOMP WITH IT AND SNAP YOUR FINGERS YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!

BYE, BYE MY BABY
Hell yeah I love this song!
This is probably my favorite track on the whole damn disc.. mixing bits of WHITE ZOMBIE, THE STROKES, BLUR, THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS and MINISTRY this one is a hellraiser.. I just want to grab the wheel and floor it and speed through the night outracing every PIG I drive past and scream out the window!

VERTIGO
once again a return track from Rollin'
If you like AL JOURGENSEN you'll love this!

Another returning track UNDERTOW NO.5 is just as good as it was the first time, vox that scream adrenaline, driving guitar and the lyrics are superb!

The next track THE SURGEON'S PHOTO still scares the hell out of me!
"JOIN US...JOIN US"

DOPE SICK
I'm just gonna say I still love this song! Light a cigarette and grab the bottle and sit back and chill!

An instrumental track follows the smokey Dope Sick titled BLOOD ON BLONDE (main theme)
It's good but if you want ot hear it better go buy the .02 CONTAMINATION DAVID BOWIE TRIBUTE CD! Trust Me!

REMIX TIME!

I'm a huge fan of PIGFACE and I was very excited to hear that they remixed TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN... I guess we can just say PIGFACE DID IT SO IT'S AWESOME!

Following that we've got THE ASSASSINS remix of ORDINARY THINGS it's good but I like the original better!

IN CLOSING what do I have to say...

AHAB REX IS MY HERO YOU NEED TO BUY BOTH THIS DISC AND THE ROLLIN' DISC!
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED and if you want more there is a QUEEN OF SOFTCORE EP which is equally cool with remixes from various artists!

AHAB REX IS PURE GENIUS!
